St. John’s has had an active Comfort Dog Ministry since 2015. Our Comfort Dogs are trained Golden Retrievers who provide a friendly, calming, and comforting presence to those who are hurting, stressed, or just need a little care. Our trained volunteer handlers take the dog to visit schools, churches, hospitals, nursing homes, community groups, or anywhere they are needed and invited. It is a great way for us to support our community. We were blessed to serve with Angel Comfort Dog from 2015-2025.
In August, 2025, we welcomed our second Comfort Dog, Gracie.
